New Zealand library week was launched on Monday morning when
the “reading bug” popped into a school assembly to read to the
children. Since then the library has been very busy every
lunchtime with children coming in to sign up for a reading
challenge. There are 3 different challenges the children can
participate in, all designed to either encourage them to read
more often or to read a greater variety of text.
On Wednesday morning we invited Jonathan Usher (our resident
magician) Brian & Diane Miller (local authors) and Bridget
Schaumann (the Kings High School librarian) to read Mr Muggs
the Library Cat to each division.
The reading bug also returned to read to the juniors. This was
part of a nationwide Library week event – “New Zealand’s
Largest Story Time”. All reading the same book at the same
time.
I LOVE THE SCHOOL LIBARY, UFORTUNETLY I HAVE NOT FINISHED NY READING BUG BUT A HAD A GOOD CRACK AT IT!
